London [UK], August 4 (ANI): Spanish football club Barcelona have confirmed the signing of Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal in a deal of around 20 million euros.
The 31-year-old, who was earlier associated with German football club Bayern Munich, signed a three-year contract with Barcelona and is now all set to join the club following a medical in coming days.
"FC Barcelona and FC Bayern Munich have reached an agreement for the transfer of player Arturo Vidal. The agreement with Arturo Vidal is for the next three seasons and is pending medical review that the player will pass in the coming days," the official statement from Barcelona confirmed.
"FC Barcelona will soon inform of the arrival of the player and the agenda of the presentation," the statement added.
Ecstatic to join the club, Vidal thanked Bayern Munich for providing him with an opportunity to play for Barcelona.
"Thanks to Bayern and all the fans. I really enjoyed my time in Munich. I would like to thank the club for giving me another chance to take on a new challenge in Barcelona," Bayern Munich's website quoted Vidal, as saying.
Barcelona were initially interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot but after failing to convince the Frenchman for the same, they went ahead with Vidal, goal.com reported.
