Chennai (India) [India], Apr 27 (ANI): Chennai Super Kings coach Stephen Fleming has called MS Dhoni a great leader and admitted that without Dhoni, there is a big void which is difficult to fill after Dhoni-less CSK faced a 46-run defeat in the hands of Mumbai Indians on Friday night.
Dhoni is a great leader and a great player. So whenever you take him out of your side and he has been a constant for us for so many years, you just get into the rhythm of having him there,” Fleming said during the post-match press conference.
“When you take a leader like that out, there are going to be some holes to fill and it's not that we are not trying to fill it, just that the hole is quite big,” he said.
In this season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), CSK played two matches without Dhoni and they lost both of the matches.
Mumbai Indians bundled off all CSK batsmen for just 109 runs after they posted a target of 156 for the hosts.
Even Mumbai Indians skipper has admitted that it gave a massive boost that Dhoni was not around.
“It was a massive boost that MSD wasn't around. Because his presence does a lot for their team. When you don't have Dhoni when they're chasing the score, then it becomes difficult for them,” Sharma said.
Chennai will now host Delhi Capitals on May 1. (ANI)
