Vishakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) [India], Oct 24 (ANI): Indian won the toss and opted to bat first against West Indies in their second ODI of the ongoing five-match series here at ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.
Following the toss, Indian skipper Virat Kohli said, "Looks like a nice and hard wicket. Our bowling combination is perfect to defend totals."
Kohli further confirmed that spinner Kuldeep Yadav has been included in the playing eleven at the place of pacer Khaleel Ahmed.
West Indies captain Jason Holder, on the other hand, stated that he is not disheartened after being asked to bowl first. We need to dig as deep as possible and get through the Indian middle-order, he continued.
"Not disheartened to bowl first. The pitch should be okay for a hundred overs, looks like a good pitch. We need to take it as deep as possible while chasing, but for now, we need to get into India's middle order," Holder said.
Talking about the team combination, Holder revealed that left-arm pacer Obed Mccoy would make his ODI debut in the match. He has replaced pacer Oshane Thomas in the Caribbean squad.
Already leading the ongoing series 1-0, India will look to further strengthen their position by clinching the second ODI.
The match holds special significance for the Indian skipper as he is just 81 runs short of surpassing batting legend Sachin Tendulkar's record of being the fastest batsman to reach the 10,000-run mark in the 50-over format.
The two squads for the match are as follows:
India: India playing XI- Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli (c), Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni (wk), Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal.
West Indies: Keiron Powell, Chandrapaul Hemraj, Shai Hope, Shimron Hetmyer, Marlon Samuels, Rovman Powell, Jason Holder, Ashley Nurse, Devendra Bishoo, Kemar Roach, Obed McCoy. (ANI)
