Virat Kohli conferred with Khel Ratna

New Delhi [India], Sep 25 (ANI): Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli was conferred with Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award by President Ram Nath Kovind here at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday.

New Delhi [India], Sep 25 (ANI): Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli was conferred with Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award by President Ram Nath Kovind here at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday.
By bagging the honour, Kohli became the third Indian cricketer, after Sachin tendulkar (1997) and Mahendra Singh Dhoni (2007), to recieve the prestigious award.
Recently, the right-hand batsman had displayed a rich vein of form during the five-match Test series against England. He scored a total of 593 runs in the series with an impressive average of 118.6.
Overall, Kohli has played a total of 211 ODI matches making 9779 runs with an impressive average of 58.21 while in Tests, he has scored 6147 runs in 71 matches that he has appeared in so far.
Meanwhile, Asian Games gold medallist Hima Das, who was nominated for Arjuna Award, was also presented with the prize by the President.
The sprinter had clinched a gold medal, along with Machettira Poovamma, Saritaben Laxmanbhai Gayakwad and Velluva Koroth Vismaya, in women's 4x400m Relay event at the prestigious tournament.
Das had also bagged a silver medal in Women's 400m Race event with a clock timing of 50.59 seconds. (ANI)
