Victoria wins Sheffield Shield, Pattinson stars clinching 7 wickets

Dubai [UAE], Mar 31 (ANI): Victoria defeated New South Wales by 177 runs in the Sheffield Shield 2019 final on Sunday to claim their fourth tournament win in five seasons. James Pattinson stood out in the event by claiming seven wickets through the match.

Dubai [UAE], Mar 31 (ANI): Victoria defeated New South Wales by 177 runs in the Sheffield Shield 2019 final on Sunday to claim their fourth tournament win in five seasons. James Pattinson stood out in the event by claiming seven wickets through the match.
Chasing a mammoth target of 387 runs,  New South Wales were bundled out for 210.
Victoria won comfortably with a day to spare in the five-day contest in Melbourne, the International Cricket Council (ICC) reported.
Pattinson took four wickets in the second innings of the match, breaking the back of New South Wales batters and he had also taken three wickets in the first innings. Peter Siddle took a five-wicket haul in the first innings but he failed to leave an impression in the second innings as he took just one wicket.
The match was completely dominated by the fast bowlers, but Victoria's opener Marcus Harris laid the foundation for the team as he scored a patient knock of 141 in the first innings. He finished the season as the top run-getter in the tournament with 1188 runs at an average of 69.88.
His hundred helped the side to post 289 runs in the first innings and New South Wales were bundled out for 121 in the first innings as Siddle starred for the team taking a five-wicket haul.
Pattinson's haul of seven wickets in this match took his season tally to 26 wickets from seven matches at an average of 18.92. 
New South Wales' bowler Trent Copeland took eight wickets in the match, taking his season tally to 52 wickets from nine matches, surpassing Jackson Bird (50) as the leading wicket-taker for the season. (ANI)
