London [UK], April 1 (ANI): England's limited-overs captain Eoin Morgan expressed his concerns over the coronavirus pandemic, saying that the times are uncertain and the situation is serious both economically and financially for the game.
"The serious nature of the situation economically and financially for the game is something that we have never come across. Certainly from a player's point of view, we want to do as much as we can to try and keep things going," ESPNcricinfo quoted Morgan as saying.
"If there is an opportunity to play as much cricket as we can, I would like to think every player would be behind it. I certainly am. But obviously times are still uncertain at the moment," he said.
The England Cricket Board (ECB) on March 21 suspended professional cricket till May 28.
The virus has affected sporting activites all across the globe and forced the postponement of several competitions including 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
There are 754,948 people worldwide who have been infected with the coronavirus, said the World Health Organisation, adding that 36,571 have died from it so far.
The virus has spread to more than 200 countries and territories since it emerged in China in late December last year. (ANI)
