Tendulkar lauds BCCI for U-19 World Cup glory

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], Feb 4 (ANI): Hailing the Under-19 cricket team for the World Cup glory, Indian legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar gave credit to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for providing the young players with proper infrastructure.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines Kolkata Marathon, Tendulkar said, "Fabulous achievement. It requires great teamwork to realise big dreams. The way they had prepared themselves physically, mentally and also their planning and execution was right at the top. And that's why it was evident that the Indian team stood apart from rest of the competitors"

"Credit to BCCI for giving them the infrastructure. In the last 15 years, the standard of playing has also changed, fielding has changed because of better infrastructure, better ground maintenance and it reflected on the field," the former captain said.

India thrashed Australia by eight wickets to lift their record fourth World Cup, at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on Saturday.

The Indian colts become the first team to win the title four times as earlier they were tied with Australia with three titles each. The Men in Blue were also unbeaten in the Under-19 World Cup tournament.

Indian opening batsman Manjot Kalra grabbed the eyeballs with his unbeaten 101-run knock as the Rahul Dravid coached side chased down the target of 217.

It was an all-around performance from the Indian team as first, the spinners sent shivers down opposition's spine and then, the batsmen proved fatal with their magnificent show with the bat. (ANI)
