Melbourne [Australia], Sep 21 (ANI): Banned Australian cricketer Steve Smith, who is all set to participate in Sydney Premier Cricket, has said that during the tournament he would look to teach the young players and help them learn.
The 29-year-old further stated that he wants to see Australian cricket become strong and it is always better to have experienced players around the youngsters.
"Hopefully I can teach some of the young guys the game, help them learn. If I can pass on any information to these young guys coming through and help them turn into better players, I'll do that," Cricket.com.au quoted Smith, as saying.
"We want to see Australian cricket strong and it starts at this level. The more older heads there are around to come and help out, the better," he added.
The former skipper, along with opener David Warner, was handed over a one-year ban following their involvement in a massive ball-tampering scandal during the third Test match against South Africa at New Lands.
Another accused in the case, Cameron Bancroft, was served with a nine-month ban for a role in the scandal.
Smith will play for Sutherland District Cricket club in the Sydney Premier Cricket tournament starting September 22. (ANI)
