New Delhi [India], 4 June (ANI): Sanath Jayasuriya will coach a Melbourne club, Mulgrave from the next season. The ambitious suburban club will have the services of the former Sri-Lankan cricketer for one year.
This coaching stint will also be Jayasuriya's return to the game after a two-year ban for breaching the ICC anti-corruption code in February 2019.
"Dilshan opened the door for us there, and it was a fantastic opportunity that was presented to us. We just had to work on it and come to an agreement, and we have," ESPNcricinfo quoted Mulgrave president Malin Pullenayegam.

"I think it's a great opportunity for our young guys to know what international cricket standards are. That kind of exposure from a young age just elevates the standard of cricket they'll be playing."
The Herald Sun reported that it was the former Sri-Lankan team-mate Tillakaratne Dilshan who convinced 51-year-old Jayasuriya to make the move to Melbourne.
Sanath Jayasuriya will walk in the footsteps of Tillakaratne Dilshan and Upul Tharanga, who are already part of the Eastern Cricket Association competition.
Jayasuriya has played 110 Tests and 445 ODIs in his 22-year-long while scoring 42 centuries at the International level.

With this loss, Sri Lanka, who had a fine group stage with three wins and a loss, ended their Super Eight stage without a win. On the other hand, even though Pakistan won, they could not restrict Sri Lanka to 147 or fewer runs, thus unable to climb over New Zealand's net-run-rate and failing to seal their semifinal spot. The first semifinal between New Zealand and 2024 T20 WC runners-up South Africa for March 4 has been sealed and will take place at Kolkata's Eden Gardens.
