Sadaf Hussain 'disappointed' for not being given chance to play for Pak

Karachi [Pakistan] Dec 9 (ANI): Pakistan bowler Sadaf Hussain feels that injustice has been done with him as the left-hand bowler is yet to play for the country, despite a consistent good show in the domestic cricket.

Sadaf has played 73 first-class matches where he has taken 353 wickets since his debut in 2009. He has taken five ten-wicket and 24 five-wicket hauls at the first-class level but has not been picked for the Pakistan team.

"I have no idea why I have never been given a chance to play for Pakistan. The selectors haven't answered this question, in fact nobody has," the Pakpassion quoted Sadaf as saying.

Sadaf said that he is absolutely clueless that why he has been overlooked as he neither has disciplinary problems nor and have never been involved in any controversy.

The 28-year-old also revealed that he once thought of changing his career after facing "setback after setback" but it was his family that changed his mind.

"I was ignored for domestic tournament after domestic tournament and sat watching on the sidelines whilst my teammates played in tournaments. I would perform and then get dropped. I was mentally all over the place and enough was enough. I had set my heart on a change of career, but then my family changed my mind and told me to stick at it and better days would come. My family persuaded me to continue playing cricket at a time when I wanted to just give up the game," he said.

Sadaf has also not played a domestic Twenty20 tournament yet and was also not picked by any Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises.

On being quizzed about it, Sadaf said that he has been playing first-class cricket for seven or eight seasons yet nobody has deemed him capable of playing even one single 20-over match, which is mystifying

"If Rawalpindi or one of the other teams picked me for tournaments like the National T20 Cup then at least I can show what I am capable of and who knows perhaps that could lead to a PSL contract. If I flop in the domestic Twenty20 tournaments then I won't complain, but when you aren't even given a chance then that is just totally confusing and very frustrating," he said.

Despite facing ignorance from the selectors, Sadaf believes that he would not give to play his best and be sincere to the sport as he will always dream for the chance to wear the Pakistan cap. (ANI)
