Antigua [West Indies], Mar 25 (ANI): Former West Indies senior team manager Ricky Skerritt has replaced Dave Cameron as the president of Cricket West Indies (CWI). He defeated Cameron 8-4 in the voting.
Skerritt's running mate Dr Kishore Shallow, who challenged Emmanuel Nanthan, also won by the same margin, defeating him for the post of the vice president.
Skerritt, 62, and Shallow, 35, are also CWI directors.
"I am humbled and deeply honoured to be elected as president. We pledge to work for improvement on and off the field for West Indies Cricket," Skerritt said in his official statement released by CWI.
"I am grateful and humbled by the support of the members of the territorial board. This is a victory for West Indies Cricket," newly elected vice president Dr Shallow said in his statement.
Each of the six territorial boards (JCA, BCA, WICB, LICB, TTCB and Guyana Cricket Association) had two votes each.
Skerritt's predecessor Cameron had landed himself in a controversy during his tenure as the president of CWI. West Indies coach Phil Simmons was sacked in 2016 under Cameron's reign. Simmons, who is now the coach of Afghanistan, has claimed damages worth more than US $300,000.
The proceedings were done under the supervision of an international audit firm, KPMG. (ANI)

"Got something up his sleeve for semifinal": Ponting on Abhishek

As far as India's top order is concerned, this ongoing T20 World Cup has been an unexpected ride. The world number one in T20Is, Abhishek, started off the tournament with three ducks in a row, battling food poisoning that kept him out of the clash against Namibia in the group stage. His first runs came against South Africa in the Super Eight, but it was a sluggish 12-ball knock of 15 runs, where the batter swung out of desperation and hope. While a 30-ball 55 against Zimbabwe in a must-win clash restored some confidence, Abhishek's lean run continued as he could make just 10 against the West Indies. This in total makes for just 80 runs across six innings, including three ducks.
