Rajkot (Gujarat) [India], Oct 5 (ANI): Indian bowling attack, led by pacer Mohammad Shami, gave early jolts to West Indies, as the visiting side trails by 555 runs at the loss of six wickets on Day Two of the opening Test here at Saurashtra Cricket Stadium on Friday.
Looking to get past the mammoth Indian total of 649 runs, the Caribbean side did not handle the pressure well as they lost wickets in quick succession.
Making the early strike, Shami delivered an absolute cracker to scatter the stumps of West Indies opener Kraigg Brathwaite who was playing at the score of 2.
After two overs, the right-arm bowler struck again and this time it was Kieran Powell who had to depart after scoring just one run.
Soon, Indian spinners also came into the picture and gave no settling opportunity to the already crumbling West Indies batting order.
The spin trio of Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Kuldeep Yadav scalped one wicket each to put India on the driving seat.
India had declared their first innings after scoring a massive total of 649 runs at the loss of nine wickets.
The Indian batting line-up had bruised the West Indies bowling attack with three of their batters- Prithvi Shaw, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja- playing centurion knock in their first innings.
Two all-rounders, Roston Chase (27) and Keemo Paul (13), are currently holding the crease for West Indies. (ANI)
