President Kovind, PM Modi wish team on Blind Cricket World Cup win

New Delhi [India], Jan. 20 (ANI): President Ram Nath Kovind congratulated the Indian team for winning the 5th ODI Blind Cricket World Cup at Sharjah on Saturday.

New Delhi [India], Jan. 20 (ANI): President Ram Nath Kovind congratulated the Indian team for winning the 5th ODI Blind Cricket World Cup at Sharjah on Saturday.

President Kovind tweeted, "Congratulations to India team for winning the 'Blind Cricket World Cup'! The team showed exceptional skills, grit & determination. The nation is proud of their achievement."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vice President Venkaiah Naidu also wished the Indian team who defeated Pakistan in the World Cup finals.

"Congratulations to our cricket team for winning the 2018 Blind Cricket World Cup! They make the nation proud and inspire every Indian with their game as well as phenomenal attitude. True champions!" Prime Minister Modi wrote on Twitter.

Defending Champions India beat Pakistan by two wickets in the finals at the Sharjah stadium in UAE.

India continued their champion streak as they managed to win the close contest with one over to spare.

Pakistan batted first and scored 307 in 40 overs.

Deepak Malik and Rambir took two wickets while Sunil Ramesh took one.

Man of the Match Sunil Ramesh's scintillating 93 runs in 67 balls and Skipper Ajay Reddy's 62 in 60 balls guided India to win.

Meanwhile, the Consulate General of India announced that it will organise a felicitation programme for the players and officials of the blind cricket team on Sunday. (ANI)
