Pacer Jhye Richardson sent home after shoulder dislocation

Melbourne [Australia], Mar 25 (ANI): Australia fast bowler Jhye Richardson flew home to Perth for scans after he dislocated his right shoulder while fielding on the boundary in the second ODI against Pakistan in Sharjah.
As Richardson will undergo scans to determine the extent of the injury, Australia are hopeful that the paceman will be fit to take part in the 50-over World Cup.
The 22-year-old signalled for help after landing awkwardly and medical staff had to pop his shoulder back into place. However, he will not be replaced in Australia’s ODI squad, cricket.com.au reported.
"It's horrible to see. It makes your stomach sink. You feel for him. He put his body on the line, trying to save a boundary," said Usman Khawaja, who along with Aaron Finch helped Australia to an eight-wicket win.
"He was bowling beautifully. But he's a good kid, I'm sure he's going to come back much stronger whenever he does. Hopefully--fingers crossed--it's all good. It (Richardson's shoulder) went back in pretty easily, so that's always a good sign," he added.
The absence of Richardson, Australia’s leading wicket-taker in ODI with 17 wickets at 21.23, from the ongoing five-match series against Pakistan has created complications to Australia's fast-bowling unit not only for the World Cup but also the ensuing Ashes as Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood are still nursing their pectoral injury and back injury, respectively, while Pat Cummins sat out during the two matches against Pakistan.
Off-spinner Nathan Lyon remained in good spirits despite the blow, saying, "He's obviously pretty shattered but he's trying to stay upbeat. It's very disappointing, especially off the back of the summer that Jhye's had. He's had a really good Shield season for WA than a pretty special Test series against Sri Lanka".
"The way he's been performing has been pretty impressive. Fingers crossed he can be fit for the World Cup and be in the selection (mix) there," Lyon added.
Australia, with a 2-0 lead, will meet Pakistan for the third ODI on March 27 in Abu Dhabi. (ANI)
