West Indies cricket team captain Jason Holder

Dubai [UAE], Feb 13 (ANI): West Indies registered a memorable 2-1 victory in a recently-concluded home Test series against England but skipper Jason Holder does not want to take a break from here as now he is aiming to be the number one cricket team in the world.
Holder said that the team is committed to build on the series victory and not just rest on their laurels.
“We need to continue to build and not rest on our laurels. Our number one goal is to be the No.1 team in the world, so there is a lot to improve on,” ICC quoted Holder, as saying.
“We have got to keep improving in the three facets of the game and be clinical and lot more consistent. Our bowlers have done an outstanding job. It is up to our batsmen to contribute more,” he added.
Holder made a special mention of all-rounder Roston Chase who played a brilliant knock of 102 runs in the second innings of the final Test to save his team from getting out at an embarrassingly low total.
“I had a chat with Roston before his innings. He was a little disheartened with his dismissals in this series, so it is good to see him knuckle down and get some runs, especially in the context of the day. It would have been easy for us to be rolled over,” Holder said.
Holder’s five wickets haul in the Antigua Test against England lifted him four places to a career-best sixth position in the Test rankings after the Windies scored an impressive 10-wicket win over England in the second match.
West Indies missed the opportunity to clean sweep England as they lost the third Test by 232 runs.
Recently, Holder became the first Caribbean player since ICC Cricket Hall of Famer Sir Gary Sobers to top the list of Test all-rounders and added another feather to his cap by reaching a tally of 778 rating points, the highest by any Windies bowler since the retirement of Courtney Walsh in 2001.
Holder has played a total of 37 Tests and has scored 1,783 runs at an average of 33.64, and taken 93 wickets at 27.69. In ODIs, he has scored 1423 runs with an average of 26.85 and scalped 112 wickets at 33.05. (ANI)
