Dubai [UAE], Feb 14 (ANI): Member of the 1992 World Cup winning team, wicketkeeper-batsman Moin Khan backs Pakistan to defeat old rival India at the 2019 global tournament, starting May 30 in England and Wales.
“This should be a very interesting World Cup and I am backing Pakistan to beat India. Our boys are in good spirits and it is good they will go into the competition after having played ODI matches against South Africa, Australia and England,” ICC quoted Moin, as saying.
“I say this because our boys beat them [India] in the Champions Trophy two years back and I just feel that in English conditions in June we have better bowlers,” he said.
The rivalry between the teams is one of the most hotly contested matches. Having never prevailed against India at a World Cup, Pakistan would be aiming to change the history books and claiming a first-ever World Cup win over India.
“This present team is very capable of recording a first win over India in a World Cup because there is talent, there is depth and variety,” he said.
The much-awaited World Cup 2019 is slated to take place from May 30 to July 14 in England and Wales. India and Pakistan will lock horns on June 16 at the Old Trafford in Manchester. (ANI)
