Journalist Rajat Sharma elected DDCA president

New Delhi [India] July 02(ANI): Senior journalist Rajat Sharma on Monday was elected as the new President of Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) here.

New Delhi [India] July 02(ANI): Senior journalist Rajat Sharma on Monday was elected as the new President of Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) here.
Sharma earned 54.40% of votes in his favour after the result of the DDCA elections, which took place between June 27 and June 30, was declared.
Taking to his Twitter handle, Sharma thanked the members for voting in his favour.
He wrote, "I thank all members of #DDCA who voted in the elections and reposed their trust in us. I now invite all the members to join hands to bring about transparency in the functioning of #DDCA."



Sharma defeated former World Cup winning Indian cricketer Madan Lal by 517 votes to win the elections.
The 'Aap Ki Adalat' anchor garnered a total of 1,531 votes while Lal could only collect 1,004 votes in total.
Meanwhile, Rakesh Kumar Bansal has been elected as the vice-president of the Delhi cricket governing body with 48.87% votes in his favour.
He surpassed Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) acting president CK Khanna's wife Shashi by 278 votes. (ANI)
