"It's my job I have to do that": Quinton de Kock on his match-winning knock against Rajasthan Royals

New Delhi [India] March 27 (ANI): After giving a match-winning performance against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opener Quinton De Kock expressed his feelings on the role of an opener in guiding the match forward.
In a video post by IPL, De Kock emphasized the importance of an opener's role in guiding the game forward. He mentioned that it's about adapting to the situation, whether it's capitalizing on a batter's form or responding to a bowler's strengths, and he felt they did their best in the match against RR.
"It's my job I have to do that, as an opener you have to see the game and take it forward. If a guy smokes it all the time it's your job and if a guy is good at bowling yorker you bowl yorker we did what best we could have. " Quinton De Kock said as per a video released by IPL.
De Kock also mentioned that the team discussed the previous game in Kolkata about how to improve their performance. He believes that the game against RR was a reflection of that discussion and contributed to their victory.
"After the last game in Kolkata we went to each other and balanced on how to take things forward tonight was the glimpse of what we talked about and that just helped us to win," he added.
De Kock secured the Player of the Match accolade after delivering an unbeaten performance of 97 runs off 61 balls at an impressive strike rate of 159. 02, featuring eight boundaries and six sixes throughout his innings.
