IPL 2023: Pooran, Stoinis' fifties power LSG to one-wicket win over RCB in last ball thriller

For LSG Stoinis slammed 65 off 30 while Pooran played a blistering knock of 62 in 19 balls.

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], April 10 (ANI): Powerful half-centuries by Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran and Ayush Badoni's quickfire 30 guided Lucknow Super Giants to one-wicket win in last ball thriller against Royal Challengers Bangalore in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match here at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday.
For LSG Stoinis slammed 65 off 30 while Pooran played a blistering knock of 62 in 19 balls. For RCB, Wayne Parnell and Mohammed Siraj bagged three-wicket respectively while Harshal Patel claimed two.
Defending a huge total of 213, Mohammed Siraj drew the first blood in the game as he dismissed Kyle Mayers for a duck in the first over of the innings.
Wayne Parnell then delivered some good balls and stuck twice, dismissing Deepak Hooda and Krunal Pandya in the 4th over of the game.
New batter Marcus Stoinis then opened his hands and hammered Harshal Patel for 17 runs, slamming one six and two back-to-back fours in the 8th over of the game.
Stoinis continued his red-hot form as he gathered 16 runs off Karn Sharma's over with the help of two fours and one six.
The duo of captain KL Rahul and Stoinis brought up their 50-run partnership stand in 30 runs in the 9th over of the game.
Stoinis slammed a much-needed half-century in 25 balls. The Australian all-rounder hammered Shahbaz Ahmed for two sixes and gathered 15 runs in the 10th over of the game.
Karn Sharma brought RCB back into the game, dismissing Stoinis in red-hot form. Stoinis returned after scoring 65 off 30 deliveries. Siraj then gave Lucknow a big blow as he removed captain KL Rahul for 18.
Ayush Badoni then came out to bat at the crease with Nicholas Pooran. The duo of Pooran and Badoni slammed Karn Sharma for 20 runs slamming two sixes and one four.
Pooran and Badoni brought up their 50-run partnership stand in 20 runs. Pooran in blistering red-hot form brought up his half-century in 15 deliveries.
Siraj then gave a twist in the tale as he dismissed dangerous man Nicholas Pooran for 62 off 19 balls. Ayush Badoni was hit wicket and returned to the pavilion after scoring 30 runs. Mark Wood then came out to bat. LSG needed five runs off the last over.
In the last over, Harshal Patel delivered a full-toss ball to bowled out Mark Wood for one. On the 5th ball of the last over Patel dismissed Jaydev Unadkat for 9. Patel went through his stride and then saw non-striker Bishnoi was out of his crease, tried to run out but missed. Threw it back but the umpire said that was not allowed.
Avesh Khan swing the bat with full force and took one run to guide his team home in the last-ball thriller.
Earlier, blistering fifties from virat-kohli">Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell guided Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to 212/2 against Lucknow Super Giants.
For RCB, Kohli slammed 61 and Faf du Plessis played an unbeaten knock of 79 runs off 46 balls while Maxwell scored a blistering 59 in 29 deliveries. For LSG, Mark Wood and Amit Mishra bagged one wicket each.
Put to bat first, Royal Challengers Bangalore got off to a fiery start as their openers virat-kohli">Virat Kohli and captain Faf du Plessis slammed Lucknow all around the ground from the start of the first over.
Kohli hammered Avesh Khan for 13 runs with the help of one six and one four in the second over of the game. The batting pair of Kohli and du Plessis were decisive in their approach and made the Lucknow bowlers toil hard making merry of the excellent batting conditions on offer.
The duo of Kohli and du Plessis took Bangalore's total beyond the 50-run mark in the 6th over of the game. du Plessis gave strong support to hard-hitter Kohli from the other end as Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 56 runs in the powerplay.
Kohli in ominous form slammed a stunning half-century in 35 balls in the 9th over of the game.
The Bangalore duo rotated the strike brilliantly, not allowing the LSG bowlers to settle down while whacking the loose balls on offer.
Veteran bowler Amit Mishra drew first blood as he dismissed well-set batter Kohli. Kohli's knock of 61 runs from 44 balls came to an end but the batter had done his job well and gave his team a solid platform.
The right-handed batter Glenn Maxwell then came out to bat. Maxwell slammed one six and four in Mishra's over and gathered 13 runs. du Plessis and Maxwell hammered Ravi Bishnoi for 20 runs slamming three sixes in the 15th over of the game. du Plessis slammed 115M six off Bishnoi's delivery.
While slamming Lucknow bowlers all around the ground, du Plessis brought up his blistering half-century in 35 balls with a huge six in the 16th over of the game. du Plessis and Maxwell both were aggressors of the batting pair, smashing boundaries regularly. The duo stitched a solid 50-run partnership for their team.
Faf du Plessis continued his carnage as he hammered Jaydev Unadkat for two back-to-back huge sixes and one four, gathering 23 runs in the 18th over of the game.
With slamming back-to-back two sixes, Maxwell brought up his blistering fifty in 24 balls. The duo also brought up their 100-run partnership in 41 runs and took their team's total beyond the 200-run mark.
In the 20th over, Mark Wood delivered a stunning delivery to bowled out Maxwell after scoring 59 off 29 runs. Dinesh Karthik then came out at the crease and took one single to take RCB's total to 212/2 in 20 overs.
