Chennai [India], Mar 24 (ANI): Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) started their journey in this season of Indian Premier League (IPL) in the same way they did in 2018, as the former had a seven-wicket victory over the latter in the opening match of IPL on Saturday.
Regardless of the loss, Kohli praised his bowlers for taking the game into the 18th over despite the fact that the bowlers had a very small 71-run target to defend.
“I'm pretty happy with the attitude the guys showed in the field, taking it into the 18th over was something that we spoke of, finding ways to be in the game and stretching towards being competitive,” the International Council Cricket (ICC) quoted Kohli, as saying.
While defending the batsmen, the 30-year old said that their performance was more a case of misreading the pitch. Despite the loss in the opening match, Kohli said that he would rather endure such defeats early in the league.
“The good thing is a game like this is out of the way [now] rather than [at] a very important stage of the tournament. We'd rather have this early on and get done with it, that's how we want to look at it,” he said.
