Dubai [UAE], October 14 (ANI): Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) fell 21 runs short of the target, and skipper David Warner feels that the side required the services of an extra batsman on Tuesday.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) delivered an all-round bowling performance to register a 20-run win over SRH.
SRH needed 46 runs in the last three overs and they smashed 19 runs in the 18th over as the David Warner-led side saw a glimmer of hope. However, Shardul Thakur brilliant over saw CSK inching closer to the win as Rashid's cameo came to an end in the penultimate over.
"The wicket was on the slower side, I think we needed an extra batter. We tried to take it deep. You got one big boundary, so it's not easy. We have to go back to the drawing board and work on few areas," said Warner during the post-match presentation via host broadcaster Star Sports.
CSK had posted 167 runs after witnessing a poor start in their allotted 20 overs.
"I thought 160 was the right total to go after, but anything above that was always going to be difficult. Having 6-7 bowlers in the team helps," said Warner.
"It's difficult to play against bowlers who can swing the ball. There's always a challenge in the powerplay, but you have to take on the bowlers," he added.
"I think with our team and the depth that we have, we're always going to be one short either way. Things (in the points table) are always congested in the middle," Warner further said.
SRH will next lock horns with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday. (ANI)
