New Delhi [India], February 12 (ANI): On Wednesday, the Indian cricket team led by Rohit Sharma wore green armbands as a part of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) initiative "Donate Organs and Save Lives" where the country's most loved icons will promote the noblest cause --gifting a life to someone.
The initiative by the BCCI is the brainchild of former secretary and current International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman Jay Shah. The cause is close to his heart and he is extremely grateful that BCCI has the Narendra Modi Stadium to promote a social cause.
Over the past few days, the top Indian stars including Virat Kohli have urged the cricket lovers and the common public to come forward and pledge to donate their organs which could change the lives and families of those in need, as per a press release.
"Sport has the power to inspire, unite and create lasting impact beyond the field. Through this initiative, to take the greatest gift of all --a gift of life. Our pledge and one decision can save multiple lives. Let us come together and make a difference," Shah wrote on his official social media handle.

Shah always been at the forefront whether it is performing his social responsibility or trying his best to make it a better viewing experience for fans who come to the stadiums.
During the 2023 World Cup, the Narendra Modi Stadium had multiple medical kiosks including mini ICU units for any fan who would fall critically ill while coming to watch a match.
He also took the initiative of inviting 20 terminally ill children to watch a World Cup match along with their doctors.
Coming to the match, England won the toss and opted to bowl first.
India has made three changes, with Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami rested, while Varun Chakravarthy is out due to a sore calf. Kuldeep Yadav, Washington Sundar, and Arshdeep Singh come into the playing XI. England has made one change, with Tom Banton replacing Jamie Overton. India will look to finish the series on a high, while England will aim to avoid a whitewash.
