India continue to dominate Sri Lanka with Kohli's 19th Test ton

Nagpur (Maharashtra) [India], Nov 26 (ANI): India skipper Virat Kohli on Sunday set another milestone as he scored 19th Test century of his cricket career while batting Sri Lanka out of the Nagpur Test, here at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium.

Nagpur (Maharashtra) [India], Nov 26 (ANI): India skipper Virat Kohli on Sunday set another milestone as he scored 19th Test century of his cricket career while batting Sri Lanka out of the Nagpur Test, here at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium.

The captain fantastic's recent century also brings him his fourth against the Lankan Lions and his tenth in internationals in this year.

The 29-year-old best ranked limited over batsman now has the same number of Test 100s as former West Indies cricketer Clive Lloyd, Australia's Mark Taylor and Michael Hussey, Barbadian cricketer Gordon Greenidgea and Len Hutton of England.

Kohli, the run machine, has also surpassed Sunil Gavaskar's record of most centuries as an Indian skipper.

He has also outclassed Australia's Ricky Ponting (9 in 2005 and 2006) and South Africa's Graeme Smith (9 in 2005) for the most centuries by a captain in a calendar year.

Kohli, with his stunning defensive batting have kept the Lankan bowlers at bay on Day three of the second Test against the Islanders.

Kohli resumed the day along with Cheteshwar Pujara and the duo stitched 183 for the side until Pujara was sent back to the pavilion.

Pujara added a fantastic 143 for India but his long innings finally came to an end as Dasun Shanaka rattled his stumps and with this Ajinkya Rahane was called in.

India were 404 for 3 at Lunch with Kohli batting at 123 and Rahane yet to score.

Resuming the game after lunch, Rahane was departed for just 2 with a catch out by Dimuth Karunaratne on Thisara Perera's ball.

At the time of reporting, India were 456 for four, with Rohit Sharma batting at 19 and Kohli at 143.(ANI)
