Karachi [Pakistan], July 28 (ANI): Pakistan's ace fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has said that Imran Khan has the capability to make Pakistan the 'Asian Tiger'.
"I believe that he can help Pakistan become Asian Tiger but the whole nation must stand by his side if we are to succeed," The Express Tribune quoted Akhtar, as saying.
Legendary all-rounder Imran Khan's party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) emerged as the single largest party with 115 seats in the recently-concluded Pakistan general elections.
Reflecting on the same, Akhtar said that he would like to congratulate the party and hoped that he would deliver results for the people.
"I would like to congratulate the entire nation and workers of PTI," he said. "I'm confident that Imran bhai will deliver in accordance with the expectations of the people of Pakistan," he said.
Imran Khan, who led the Pakistani side to cricket World Cup victory in 1992, founded his party, PTI, in 1996 and fought first ever general election in 1997. Khan stood in seven constituencies across the country but failed to win a majority in any.
The party steadily started gaining ground and it was in the 2013 general elections that PTI emerged as the second largest party overtaking Bilawal Bhutto Zardari-led Pakistan People's Party (PPP). (ANI)
