I am just concentrating on my game: Kamran Akmal

Karachi [Pakistan], November 25 (ANI): Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal has played down the talks of a recall in the national squad and said that he is just focusing on his own game at the moment and nothing else.

The 35-year-old recently scored an unbeaten knock of 150, including 14 boundaries and 12 sixes, for Lahore Whites against Islamabad in the National T20 to become the highest-ever Pakistan scorer in T20s.

With this, he also surpassed Mukhtar Ahmed's 126 for Sialkot Stallions against Karachi Whites in 2015.

Despite being in a good form, Kamran insisted that he is just concentrating on playing at the top of his game and leaving everything on the national selectors to decide whether to call him or not.

"I have been doing what a player needs to do - score runs - and that too in all formats of the game. I have been performing in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and now am doing so in T20 cricket as well. I am just concentrating on my game, which I'm supposed to do. The rest is up to the selectors and the board," the Express Tribune quoted Akmal, as saying.

The `out-of-favour` wicketkeeper-batsman, however, expressed his desire to don the green jersey again, saying that every player who performs in domestic competition hopes to make it into the national team.

"My job is to stay fit and perform to the best of my ability. If I am making records and performing consistently then that is all I can do from my end. Hopefully, the selectors will take notice. They are watching a lot of players and I hope my hard work can pay dividend," he said.

En route to her 150-run knock off just 71 balls, Kamran also became the first Pakistan player to post five consecutive scores of 50 or more in the shortest format of the game.

Meanwhile, he and Salman Butt also set a record for the highest opening partnership in T20s, adding an unbroken 209-run stand, to help Lahore Whites to a 109-run win over Islamabad.(ANI)
