Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], Oct 14 (ANI): India have finished their first innings with a lead of 56 runs on Day Three of the ongoing second Test against West Indies at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday.
Resuming from Saturday's score of 308-4, the team lost all of their remaining wickets and managed to add 59 runs to take their first innings total to 367.
Wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant, who had ended the day with an unbroken 146-run partnership with right-hand batsman Ajinkya Rahane, missed a ton as he departed back to pavilion at the score of 92.
Rahane (80), on the other hand, could only add five more runs to his previous total and fell to a quick delivery from pacer Jason Holder.
All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who had scored his maiden Test century in their last match against the Caribbean side, failed to impress with the bat this time, as he departed without scoring a run. A deceiving delivery from Holder caught the south-paw in front of the wickets causing his dismissal.
With all of India's main batsmen back in the pavilion, spinner Ravichandran Ashwin played a crucial 35-run knock helping his side touch the 350-mark.
For West Indies, skipper holder finished with a five-wicket haul while pacer Shannon Gabriel finished the innings with a total of three wickets in his kitty.
India are currently leading the two-match Test series against West Indies 1-0. If they manage to win this match, it would be their 10th consecutive series win at home since 2013.
The ongoing series against West Indies is part of India's preparation ahead of the crucial Test series against Australia and the 2019 International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup. (ANI)
