Melbourne [Australia], August 8 (ANI): Australian all-rounder Moises Henriques has revealed that he has been a long time sufferer of mental illness.
"I've been a long time sufferer of mental illness. During this time, I was extremely fortunate to have amazing support and love from family and friends," cricket.com.au quoted Henriques, as saying.
Shedding light on his battle with mental illness, the 36-year-old revealed that a huge backing from his employers and the resources he got as a professional cricketer helped him to recover fast from the illness.
The right-hand batsman, however, confirmed that he is feeling much better now while admitting that he needs some more time to get back on track.
"I feel much better than what I was over that Christmas and New Year period, at that stage I just needed some time to get a few things right and get back into my processes. With a couple of weeks away I've started to feel much improved and in a much clearer head space," Henriques said.
The Australian has appeared in a total of 81 first-class matches and 92 domestic one-day matches for New South Wales (NSW) blues cricket team.
Henriques, who stepped down from the captainship of the NSW Blues, will play for the team again this summer, under the leadership of wicketkeeper-batsman Peter Nevill. (ANI)
