Melbourne [Australia], Feb 14 (ANI): Australia and Hobart Hurricanes cricketer George Bailey was forced off the ground after injuring himself during the Big Bash League semi-final at the Bellerive Oval on Thursday.
The 36-year-old, who stopped a ball off Glenn Maxwell going for four, sustained what appeared to be a serious shoulder injury diving in the field during the semi-final against the Melbourne Stars.
Medical staff had to pop Bailey’s right shoulder back into place after he dislocated it while fielding as he attempted to stop a ball on the boundary, Cricket Australia reported.
The Hurricanes suffered a six-wicket defeat to the Stars.
Bailey, who is an important part in Tasmania’s JLT Sheffield Shield side, now appears in doubt for at least some of the concluding stages of the domestic season.
“He [Bailey] was sitting in there in the changing room with his arm in a sling. I think it popped out so he will have to have scans tomorrow to find out exactly what happened. It did not look great on the ground," Hurricanes captain Matthew Wade said post-match.
Maxwell played a match-winning inning of 43 off 33 deliveries to take his side Stars into the finals, where they will meet either Melbourne Renegades or Sydney Sixers on February 17. (ANI)
