New Delhi [India], March 7 (ANI): Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir who has been named the Delhi Daredevils skipper said the team deserves success in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

New Delhi [India], March 7 (ANI): Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir who has been named the Delhi Daredevils skipper said the team deserves success in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

"The kind of squad we have, if we play to our ability, it is going to be difficult for anyone to beat us. It is all about playing to our potential," Gambhir told ANI.

He added, "Delhi has deserved a lot of success in the past which they have not so hopefully this is the year where they can achieve a lot of success."

Gambhir had earlier led the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for seven years in the IPL. He also led the franchise to two IPL titles in 2012 and 2014.

The 36-year-old was released by KKR and he was bought by Delhi Daredevils for Rs 2.8 crore at the IPL player auction for the 11th edition of the league.

"I will try and play with absolute honesty and integrity and with a lot of passion and energy as well," the Southpaw batsman said.

The IPL 2018 will begin from April 7.
