Former India women's cricket coach Sreerupa passes away

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], Nov 30 (ANI): Former India women cricket coach and player Sreerupa Bose, passed away on Thursday after suffering a cardiac arrest at her Salt Lake home in Kolkata.

Former India women's cricket coach Sreerupa passes away

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], Nov 30 (ANI): Former India women cricket coach and player Sreerupa Bose, passed away on Thursday after suffering a cardiac arrest at her Salt Lake home in Kolkata.

Bose 66, a batswoman and medium pace bowler, played two One Day Internationals against New Zealand women in 1985, where she went wicketless, but conceded just 35 runs off 13 overs.

She was also in charge as head coach of the national team at the 1993, 1997 and 2000 World Cups, reports ESPNcricinfo.

After her coaching career, she was chairperson of the Women's Cricket Association of India's selection committee, along with two other colleagues-Diana Edulji and Shanta Rangaswamy.

Bose is survived by her husband Pareshnath Mukherjee, the former Bengal Olympic Association president, and daughter, Amrita Mukherjee, a tennis player. (ANI)
