Agartala [Tripura], Oct 28 (ANI): A friendly cricket match between the disabled persons from India and Bangladesh was organised here on Saturday by the Tripura Protibondhi Adhikar Moncho.
The game, besides improving the relation between India and Bangladesh, also aimed towards encouraging disable persons to come forward and show their capabilities.
Tripura Health Minister Sudip Roy Barman, along with the state's former Deputy Speaker Pabitra Kar, inaugurated the match at the NEEPCO ground here.
Speaking to ANI, Roy Barman said that Indo-Bangladesh relations are at its “peak at present” and such matches between the two nations shall further add to people-to-people contact and help in morally boosting the players.
He added that through this initiative, a loud and clear message will be given to the society that physically challenged persons are in no way inferior to others.
According to the Tripura minister, barbed wire fencing cannot be a barrier in separating the heart and mind of the people of India and Bangladesh.
Similarly, the team members of Bangladesh stated that disability cannot be a hindrance to normal life.
The 20-over match, in which one of the Bangladeshi players scored a century and led his team to victory, was a real enjoyment for the spectators. (ANI)
