COVID-19: Indian team fielding coach contributes Rs 4 lakh to Relief Fund

New Delhi [India], April 2 (ANI): Indian cricket team fielding coach R Sridhar on Thursday contributed Rs four lakh towards Relief Fund to support the battle against coronavirus pandemic in the country.

New Delhi [India], April 2 (ANI): Indian cricket team fielding coach R Sridhar on Thursday contributed Rs four lakh towards Relief Fund to support the battle against coronavirus pandemic in the country.
He has contributed Rs two lakh to PM-CARES, Rs 1.5 lakh to Telangana Chief Minister's Relief Fund and Rs 50,000 to Secunderabad Cantonment Board.
"As a proud Indian citizen, I'm Duty-bound and honoured to contribute Rs 200,000/- to @PMCares, Rs 150,000/- to @TelanganaCMO & Rs 50,000/- to Sec Cantt Board. #COVID19outbreak #PMCaresFunds #PMCARES @narendramodi @PMOIndia @KTRTRS @BCCI @WHO #letsgetourcountrybackontrack," Sridhar tweeted.

On Wednesday, All India Football Federation (AIFF) pledged to donate Rs 25 lakh to the PM-Cares Fund to support the fight against the coronavirus threat. Hockey India also contributed Rs 25 lakh towards the PM-CARES Fund.
On Saturday, PM Narendra Modi announced the creation of the Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM-CARES) Fund and appealed to all the countrymen to show their support for the cause.On Saturday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) gave Rs 51 crore to PM-CARES.
Cricketer Suresh Raina donated Rs 31 lakh to PM-CARES and Rs 21 lakh to Uttar Pradesh CM's Disaster Relief Fund. On Friday, former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar had donated Rs 50 lakh to aid the battle against COVID-19.
The total number of coronavirus cases in India climbed to 1965 on Thursday after 131 people confirmed positive in the past 12 hours, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
At present, there are 1764 COVID-19 active cases in the country and 50 people have died due to the lethal infection. (ANI)
