Cannot make more mistakes: Alastair Cook tells England cricket team

London [UK], Dec 13 (ANI): Alastair Cook has warned his teammates they "can't afford any more mistakes" as they seek to rebuild their connection with the general public in the aftermath of the incident involving Ben Stokes, reports the Mirror.

Cook said, "The world's obviously changed for the England cricket team in September. And it's probably taken us a couple of months to really realise that. These last two incidents have probably proven that. I've seen the word trivial, a misdemeanour at best and a very low key thing but since obviously the Stokesy thing in September things have changed for the England cricket team. It's sad in one sense because, a bit different to football, we've always been able to go under the radar a bit and enjoy playing cricket for England and also enjoy seeing the country outside of that."

He further stated, "It's sad in some ways because we have always been a bit different to football and been able to go under the radar a bit and enjoy playing cricket for England and enjoy seeing the country outside that."

The opening batsman also noted that the players need to adjust real soon as we cannot afford any more mistakes.

"But the world has changed after the September incident and it's now down to us to adjust to it quickly and we can't afford any more mistakes,'' explained Cook.

The distinguished opener is all set to become the first English player to play in 150 Tests when he steps out against Australia in the third Test at the WACA Ground.

Cook is the leading run-scorer in Test matches for England, with 11,691 runs scored in 149 tests. He also holds the record of captaining the England cricket team in an English record of 59 Tests. (ANI)
