Bengal to start camp for players from Friday

Former India captain and President of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), Sourav Ganguly, congratulated Team India after their title-winning campaign at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, praising the side for steadily improving their performance as the tournament progressed.

Team India made it back-to-back in the T20 World Cup, beating New Zealand by 96 runs to secure their third T20 World Cup title, a record-breaking one. With this, they have become the first-ever team to defend the title and also win it as a home side.

Former India cricketer and West Bengal minister Laxmi Ratan Shukla on Sunday encouraged Team India to play the way they have played throughout the tournament ahead of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 final against New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, expressing confidence in batters Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan's good form and wished the team the best ahead of the summit clash.

The upcoming camp will be England's second stint in South Africa this year, following earlier skills-based training trips to Oman in January and Stellenbosch last month. According to Edwards, the Pretoria series is designed to add a stronger competitive element to the team's preparations ahead of a busy international season.

Porel was speaking to ANI at the pre-season media interaction in the national capital. The Bengal left-handed batter, who started off as a lower-order hitter, shifted to lower-order in the 2024 season, with plenty of outings as an opener.
