Colombo [Sri Lanka], September 17 (ANI): The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Sunday announced a well-deserved prize money of USD 50,000 for the dedicated curators and groundstaff at Colombo and Kandy.
The ACC and SLC also expressed gratitude to the Colombo and Kandy groundstaff for their outstanding efforts in completing a game despite numerous interruptions due to rain.
The ACC president Jay Shah on Sunday took to social media 'X', formerly known as Twitter to heaped praise on ground staff for their hard work throughout the tournament.

"Big Shoutout to the Unsung Heroes of Cricket! The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) are proud to announce a well-deserved prize money of USD 50,000 for the dedicated curators and groundsmen at Colombo and Kandy. Their unwavering commitment and hard work made the Asia Cup 2023 an unforgettable spectacle. From pitch perfection to lush outfields, they ensured the stage was set for thrilling cricket action. This recognition highlights the critical role these individuals play in cricket's success. Let's celebrate and honour their yeoman services! #UnsungHeroes #AsiaCup2023@ACCMedia1 @OfficialSLC," Jay Shah wrote on X.
Rain disturbed many matches in the tournament. First, it was the electrifying clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan on September 2 which ended with no result. Men in Blue's match against debutants Nepal was disturbed many times but the seven-time champions ended up winning the match with the DLS method.
Talking about the Asia Cup 2023 final match between India and Sri Lanka, Mohammed Siraj lived up to his nickname of 'Miyan Magic' by producing a spell that will be remembered for many years to come.
Siraj ran riots in the powerplay with his menacing pace dismantling the entire Sri Lankan batting set-up inside the powerplay. Defending champions were startled by the Indian pace attack as inside the powerplay Sri Lanka's score read 13/6. (ANI)
