"A little credit goes to Mahi bhai": Delhi Capitals captain opens up on MS Dhoni's influence

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], April 4 (ANI): Delhi Capitals (DC) captain, Axar Patel has credited MS Dhoni for playing a significant role in his personal and professional growth, revealing the close bond he shares with the legendary former India skipper.
Speaking in a heartfelt reel posted by the official Instagram handle of Delhi Capitals, the DC skipper spoke candidly about how Dhoni's guidance helped him through tough phases in his career.

"I have a very close connection with Mahi Bhai. When he was the captain of the Indian team, I used to share my thoughts with him," the DC captain said, highlighting the trust and openness he enjoyed with Dhoni during their time together in the national setup.
He went on to explain how Dhoni's mentoring, particularly during key moments in recent years, has had a lasting impact on him.
"After the World Cup and after the Champions Trophy, he sent me a message and before that, I mean, in the 2021 World Cup, he came as a mentor and then I talked to him about all this. That this is happening in the mindset and after that, you can see in my performance, a little credit goes to Mahi bhai that whatever has changed," he said.
The DC skipper acknowledged that Dhoni's words made a difference, which eventually reflected in his on-field performance. He is grateful for the role Dhoni has played in shaping his mindset and cricketing journey.
With the ongoing IPL season in full swing, Axar has been brilliant with his leadership skills, as the Capitals have won two in two and are placed in the second spot, they will be facing Chennai Super Kings on Saturday at Chennai.
