New Delhi [India], July 21 (ANI): After Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed Operation Sindoor as a 'Vijay Utsav', Congress MP KC Venugopal demanded a discussion on the issue in Parliament, saying that the Prime Minister should come and make a statement.
Speaking to reporters, Congress MP KC Venugopal said, "Our demand is that there should be a discussion, this is an important issue. We are proud of our country. The Prime Minister should come and make a statement."
Echoing similar sentiments, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) MP Mahua Maji raised concerns over United States President Donald Trump's repeated claims of brokering peace between India and Pakistan.
Maji said, "It indeed would have been a 'Vijay Utsav', if under the pressure of America, ceasefire would not have happened, how can we say that this is a 'Vijay Utsav'?... America is taking credit for it...US President Donald Trump also said that five jets were taken down...There should be clarity, as the public is very confused"
Noting India's recent achievements in different sectors, including space and defence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that this Monsoon Session marks the celebration of "victory."
Addressing the media persons ahead of the commencement of the Monsoon Session, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the achievements of Operation Sindoor, saying that the whole world is attracted towards the new "Made in India form of Indian military power."
Meanwhile, the Lower House of the Parliament was adjourned until 2 pm on Monday as opposition MPs raised slogans demanding a discussion on the Pahalgam terror attack and the Government's response through Operation Sindoor.
The House, which commenced operation at 11 am today, was adjourned until 12 noon following protests by members of the Opposition seeking a statement from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the events unfolding in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam attack.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla expressed anguish at the disruptions in the House today and appealed to members to allow debate and discussion to take place.
"This is the Question Hour and the Government is willing to discuss on every issue, the House should run and there should be discussion on every issue according to the rules and procedures," Birla said.
As Opposition members continued their sloganeering, he adjourned the House till 2 pm. (ANI)
