New Delhi [India], July 23 (ANI): Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Wednesday criticised the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc over their protest outside Parliament against the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Bihar, terming their actions as "hooliganism."
Speaking to ANI, Singh stated that both hooliganism and anarchy were being openly spread in Bihar and the Parliament, further questioning the opposition on what the issue was with SIR if everything had been put out in the open.
"The way they are protesting is hooliganism. Hooliganism and anarchy is being spread both in Bihar and Parliament. Secondly, when everything is out in the open (with Special Intensive Revision (SIR)), what is the issue? Who is being deprived of the right to vote?... " Singh told ANI.
He further claimed that while the government had invited the Opposition for a discussion, they were only interested in creating a ruckus.
"It is unfortunate for Parliament, at one time they hold a meeting in a mosque, then protest at the Makar Dwar of Parliament... We had called them for a debate, but they do not want a debate; they only want a ruckus..." he added.
Earlier in the day, moments before the commencement of the third day of the Parliament session, INDIA bloc continued their protest for the second day at Parliament's Makar Dwar against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) being conducted by the Election Commission (EC) in poll bound Bihar, demanding to halt the revision exercise and alleging that voting rights of people are being stripped away.
Multiple leaders, including Lok Sabha's Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, Deputy Party Leader in Lok Sabha Gaurav Gogoi, Congress MPs Priyanka Gandhi and Manickam Tagore, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut, Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav, and several other leaders, were present.
The party leaders chanted slogans "Save our Democracy", "Save our Constitution," while holding placards calling for the SIR to be stopped. (ANI)
