New Delhi [India], July 29 (ANI): Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Dimple Yadav on Tuesday called on the BJP-led Central government to take full responsibility for the Pahalgam attack on April 22, as the tourists trusted their words that the "normalcy" had been restored in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha during the debate on Operation Sindoor, Yadav questioned the government over the occurrence of the incident, further stating that the government will have to take responsibility and accountability.
"The terrorist attack in Pahalgam was a blow to the security of the country. On the one hand, the government kept saying that everything was normal in Kashmir. Somewhere down the line, the government tried to set a narrative of normalcy in Kashmir at the cost of national security. The Pahalgam result is a result of the same. I question the government about why the incident happened. Does the life of the Indians hold no value?" Dimple Yadav said.
The Mainpuri MP further stated that the government must hold complete accountability for the incident, further stating that the incident took place at a time when the US President JD Vance was in India and security had been increased in the Kashmir valley.
"This government is completely responsible for this incident. They will have to take responsibility for this and set accountability. When this incident occurred, US Vice President JD Vance was in India. Whenever such VIP guests are in India, security is increased inthe Kashmir Valley. But the failure this time...Tourists were going to Kashmir trusting your words, trusting that they were safe..." Yadav further stated.
Earlier, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, called out to Home Minister Amit Shah to take responsibility for the attack while speaking during the debate on Operation Sindoor in the Upper House.
Kharge raised questions on the accountability of the government, further claiming that repeated intelligence lapses took place in the country since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to rule.
"Since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has come to rule, there have been attacks in the country, and yet there has been no action taken on it. Uri and Pathankot attack in 2016, the Pulawama attack in 2019 and now the Pahalgam attack in 2025. All these incidents have made it clear that there has been a recurring intelligence failure and a failure in the national security... I want to ask the Home Minister on who is taking accountability for this? What has the government done to rectify the mistakes in the intelligence failures? If you are responsible, vacate your post. If no, what action has the Prime Minister been taking...?" Kharge said. (ANI)
