"Govt should address issues affecting nation's safety": Congress MP Sukhdeo Bhagat on Operation Sindoor to be discussed in Parliament

Ahead of the discussion on Operation Sindoor in Parliament on Monday, Congress MP Sukhdeo Bhagat stated that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and his party members want the discussion to be an analysis that includes positive suggestions, which should be accepted by the government.

New Delhi [India], July 28 (ANI): Ahead of the discussion on Operation Sindoor in Parliament, Congress MP Sukhdeo Bhagat on Monday said that the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi and his party members want the discussion to include positive suggestions, which should be accepted by the government.
"Rahul Gandhi, Congress party members, and the opposition want the discussion to be an analysis that includes positive suggestions, which the government should accept. Meanwhile, the government should ensure proposals supporting the national interest and citizens' safety are considered. The government should also address issues affecting the nation's safety," a Congress MP told ANI.
Explaining the motive behind the discussions, he said, "After Rahul Gandhi's foreign visit, he went to Kashmir first because this shows his commitment, and his main intention is that such incidents should not be repeated. The motive behind this is that these incidents should not be repeated, and any remaining shortcomings can be addressed and rectified."
Bhagat also requested the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi inside the House during the discussions. He emphasised that PM Modi's presence will reflect how serious the government is about the debate on Operation Sindoor.
"His presence will demonstrate the government's seriousness about this matter," Congress MP said.
Lok Sabha is set to hold a special discussion on 'Operation Sindoor', India's military response to the Pahalgam terror attack on Monday.
A fiery debate on the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor is expected to unfold in Parliament, between top leaders from the ruling alliance and the Opposition.Lok Sabha List of Business for Monday states, "Special Discussion on India's strong, successful and decisive 'Operation Sindoor' in response to terrorist attack in Pahalgam".
Twenty-six civilians were killed in the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, after which India retaliated through precision strikes under Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
Meanwhile, the first week of the Monsoon session of Parliament witnessed major disruptions with the surprise resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar as Vice President.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is likely to initiate the discussion on Operation Sindhoor in the Lok Sabha on Monday. (ANI)
