New Delhi, May 5 (ANI): Over the years, India's northeast region has been into limelight for many reasons, be it socially, culturally and politically aspects. For the very first time, people from the northeast region brought out a novelty idea and took a time out to express their appreciation, acknowledgment and invaluable gratitude to those individuals, organizations and authorities of the nation who have had lend their alms in their distress and in times of needs. Helping Hands, a pan northeast India NGO working for the people in distress and works for empowering the needy, with emergency and legal support hosted the Thanksgiving Day event here recently. With an initiative taken up by the NGO Helping Hands, Indigo Airlines and Vistara Airlines have been carrying the dead bodies of the northeast people from any parts of the country's cities to home by free of cost. At the same time, civil service coaching institutes like Alternative learning systems, Vajiram & Ravi institute, Elite IAS are moulding the aspirant youngsters of the region in civil services. "This event is particularly organized to give gratitude and appreciation to those partners, to the authorities who have been helping out. For instance, for the last 8 months, Indigo and Vistara have been carried the dead bodies of the economically weaker section from the northeast, be it in any cities, if there is an air connectivity, they have been carrying the dead bodies home for free. Why don't we take this opportunity to show them gratitude," said Armstrong Pame (IAS), Core Member of Helping Hands NGO. Pame, one of the young bureaucrats from the region reminiscent his days with ALS while preparing for his civil service exam. Many organizations and inspiring souls who have had contributed with their wholesome heart and reached out to the people from the region during their darkest moments, was appreciated highly and gave a thunderous applauds by the northeast people gathered at the event. Jojo Mathews from Alternative Learning Systems (ALS) added, "For the last 20 years, we have so many students from the northeasst and we are really happy to help them. And we have some wonderful officers from northeast including Armstrong, so in our institute, we have students every year from every state and we have so attached emotionally with them. And when Robin Hibu and Armstrong Pame came and told us about the like this, we are more than happy to help and we know that we will really produce some wonderful person and great officers from northeast in the coming days with this initiative". Individuals like Kuldeep Singh Channa of Sawadass, Delhi and C. M. Sathiabalan, General Secretary, Dwarka Graveyard have been continuously stay connected with the people and assists in cremation or burying the deceased in the capital city. The extravagant event brought well known faces from the region like Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, Mary Kom, Conrad Sangma, Ronald L, IPS officers, bureaucrats, officers and students under one platform. "In a same manner, whether you are from mainland or any part of this nation, we must feel that we all are one. And this is the message being displayed by those who are honored and appreciated today. This kind of gesture which you have displayed over the years will carry a long and strong message to the people of northeastern region. We must portray our true character and our character is fun loving, beautiful culture, easy going, mixing around, and intelligent people", added MoS for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju. Vijay Sampla, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment also appeared as special guest of the programme. The day truly marked a memorable event for the people as they shared the platforms with good hearts and souls of the fellow citizens. (ANI)
