Imphal (Manipur) [India], Mar. 27 (ANI): Given the love for music and football, the north-eastern people are heavily inclined towards fashion. Their skill to design their wardrobes is always meticulous. In recent times, many talented fashion designers from the region have made their mark in the global arena. However, in an endeavor to encourage young models, Miss Manipur Queen was recently organized here by Robert Naorem Studio and Academy. Young, aspiring model from across Manipur set the ramp on fire as they walked in their most graceful manner at the recently held 'Miss Manipur Queen' donning them in the beautiful ethnic wear known as the 'Phanek'. It was organized by Robert Naorem Studio and Academy under the supervision of Robert, one of the reputed Indian fashion designer and celebrity makeup artist from Manipur. Held in the premises of Imperial Hall of Hotel Classic Grand, the first-of-its kind beauty pageant brought to light some of the beauties with brains providing them an opportunity to shine and bring out their hidden talents. "I am organizing this event to bring up our state talent to the state level. It is a huge challenge I have to face and from the long time I wanted to associate with Miss India team. This pageant is not a commercial one; I am not selling tickets and all. First of all I was completely blank because the approval of the association with Miss India team came very late," said Robert. Fashion enthusiasts and others from all across the region and other parts as well thronged to witness the biggest fashionista. As many as 35 models tried their luck in the audition held at Naorem's studio. The 15 models selected underwent rigorous training and grooming session under well-known fashion choreographer Achla Sachdev. "I feel very lucky to be here and it was not a part of my plan to join... I applied and went for the audition which went well and so here I am. I have been selected and I am quite excited about it," said Anmol Dhawan, one of the participants. It was a neck to neck performance as the girls brought out their best and looked stunning in different outfits in several rounds. The panel of judges included some of the dignitaries from the state and Miss India 2016Priyardarshini Chatterjee, who added glory to the event. "I got the opportunity to represent my country which is India at the International platform and it's not an easy task to do that. The girls coming from 130-140 countries and you have to compete against them. I think it is an honor you should take in representing your country. And beauty pageant is somewhere you can get out of your comfort zone to be a better version of yourself," said Priyadarshini. The top three contestants selected were Th. Strela, Kalpana Yumnam and Soibam Kanchan Chanu. It is noteworthy that the selected contestants have been send to Guwahati for further screening. They will get a chance to participate in the Femina Miss India Finale, 2017, to be held at Mumbai. (ANI)
