Kashmir to digitize rare manuscripts to preserve cultural heritage
Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], Nov. 3 (ANI): In an endeavour to preserve the art and culture of Kashmir and make future generations aware about the state's rich heritage, authorities here have taken steps to digitize the rarest of rare manuscripts.

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], Nov. 3 (ANI): In an endeavour to preserve the art and culture of Kashmir and make future generations aware about the state's rich heritage, authorities here have taken steps to digitize the rarest of rare manuscripts. The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages began the digitization process a few months ago under the supervision of experts sent from Delhi to Kashmir. "For the preservation and safety of these rare manuscripts, digitalization is very important, because, in 2014, due to the horrible flood, we lost a lot of things. So in future, our rare manuscripts will be safe and preserved for future generations," said an official of the academy. The Kashmir Valley is famous for its manuscripts and efforts are being made to preserve them. It is the only place in Asia where such old manuscripts are found in abundance. These manuscripts are related to Kashmir's religion, politics, astronomy, logic, history, mathematics, travelogues, jurisprudence, calligraphy, music and politics. The digitization of the manuscripts would make future generations aware about their culture. (ANI)
