Assam state zoo attracts tourists through habitation of rare animals
Guwahati (Assam) [India], Apr 27 (ANI): Engulfed with lush greenery and beautiful landscape, the Assam State Zoo is home to varied species of animals, birds and reptiles that makes it one of the eco tourism destinations. Every year around one lakh tourists from all across the country flock to the city to see the rare animals in their natural habitat. Divisional Forest Officer, S.K. Seal Sharma said, "The Central Zoo Authority suggested to send four hybrid sick lions, seized in 2004, to Van Bihar National Park in Bhopal in the rescue centre." Moreover, the zoo also comprises of animal exhibits, a reptile house, museum, and a botanical garden that attracts a large number of visitors. Zoo is opened for visitors six days a week except on Friday from 8 am in the morning till 6 pm in the evening. A tourist while appreciating the zoo as greenery filled and well protective for animals suggested increasing facilities like proper sanitation. Beside, a safari ride has also been provided to the visitors to give them a mystical overview of the wildlife habitats. Adding another feather to its cap, the zoo recently added a pair of Asiatic lions and six mouse deer that too has become a major attraction among the people. The Central Zoo Authority is also working to use modern scientific technology in wildlife conservation and better facilities at the zoo to increase the number of visitors.(ANI)
