Artistic initiative makes Surat railway station 'khubsurat'

Surat (Gujarat) [India], Dec. 12 (ANI): A diamond manufacturing company has taken on the responsibility of making the railway station in Surat, Gujarat, passenger-friendly and attractive. Professional artists, students and housewives are all participating in the initiative. Around 30 to 35 artists are painting attractive murals on the walls on the theme of Silk City and 'Hari Nagri'. Those engaged in this project are primarily from Navsari district. Kamlesh Patel, a company's official, said, "The project is being done under corporate social responsibility (CSR). It our duty towards society and make people aware about things." "As the project is for beautifying the city, we are concentrating on things which represent Surat," said Banshi Patel, another participant. Showing their support for the Centre's 'Swacch Bharat Abhiyan', another participant said different themes are being applied to represent the city in its brightest form. "We hope other cities also take up such projects and contribute their bit towards the betterment of the country. After all, it is every citizen's responsibility to ensure a better future for the nation. (ANI)
