Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh) [India], January 27 (ANI): Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national general secretary Nara Lokesh has taken a swipe at the ruling Jagan Mohan Reddy, claiming that the ruling party in Mangalagiri Assembly segment is getting completely vacated much before the elections, sending a strong signal that YSRCP will be totally 'wiped out' of the political scene after the polls.
Addressing the party leaders here on Saturday, Lokesh recalled how he got 'humiliated' after his defeat from Mangalagiri in the last elections.
"My goal is to emerge victorious with a massive majority where the TDP has no ground," he said.
He also said he has taken up several developmental works in Mangalagiri despite being in the opposition and called upon the party leaders and activists to work together for the success of the TDP.
"I always respect seniors and encourage those who work hard and we should work for the victory of the TDP with the maximum possible majority," Nara Lokesh said.
"Though some leaders have suggested that I contest from North Andhra to have a better impact, I preferred Mangalagiri due to his attachment with the segment and the people here," he said.
Maintaining that the coming 72 days are very crucial for the party, he asked all the workers and leaders of the party to work with dedication.
"Once the TDP is back in power and if I win from Mangalagiri with a massive majority I will take every measure to develop Mangalagiri as a model Assembly segment," Nara Lokesh said.
Notably, the former ZPTC, Yella Jayamma, the sarpanch from Pedapalem, Krishna Prasad and several others along with hundreds of their supporters joined the TDP on Saturday.
Andhra Pradesh had seen about 14 elections to the Legislative Assembly since its formation on November 1, 1956. Of them, 12 were in the unified State and two were in the residual State.
While the Congress party had won eight times, all in the composite State, the TDP was victorious in five elections, including the one in 2014 after the State's bifurcation, and the YSRCP once in 2019. (ANI)
