Youth Congress stages protest against Centre's actions in Arunachal, Uttarakhand

Bengaluru, July 16 (ANI): The Youth Congress workers staged a protest here on Saturday against Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Centre for their actions in Arunachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The agitators raised slogans denouncing the BJP-led Centre and carried placards which read "Modi tried to kill democracy but democracy killed Modi" and "Thank you Supreme Court for explaining what democracy is to Modi". One of the agitators accused the Governors in both the states of acting like BJP 'agents'. "We are here to condemn the undemocratic means used by Modi-led government to topple government's in Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh. The Supreme Court has a cracked a whip on Modi Government and taught them what democracy is. The governors in both states acted like BJP agents," the protestor told ANI. "SC has taught a lesson to Narendra Modi about the democracy. They are dreaming of a Congress mukt bharat, it will never happen," said another protestor. In Arunachal Pradesh, ahead of the floor test, the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) has decided to change the leadership from Nabam Tuki to Pema Khandu. Should the Congress win the floor test, Khandu is most likely to become the next chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh. Supreme Court, in a historic verdict on Wednesday, restored Tuki-led Congress Government and quashed the actions of the Governor post December 15 last year. Last December, Congress rebels, backed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), staged a coup and ousted Nabam Tuki as chief minister. (ANI)
