Wayanad (Kerala) [India], October 23 (ANI): Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday reached out to the people of the Wayand and noted that they stood with her brother at a time when the whole world was turning its back against him.
The remarks came in the context of Rahul Gandhi's decision to vacate the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat.

She stated that truth and non-violence pushed her brother to undertake the Bharat Jodo Yatra for the sake of the love and unity of the country.
"These values (truth and non-violence) moved my brother to walk 8000 km across India for love and unity... He could not have done that without your support... You stood with my brother when the whole world was turning its back against him... You gave him your strength and courage to keep fighting... My whole family will always remain indebted and grateful to you... I know he had to leave you and I promise that I will only strengthen the bond between you and him...," Priyanka Gandhi said while addressing a rally of party leaders and party workers in Wayanad.

"It is a very different feeling. I am deeply grateful to the Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge ji for giving me this privilege of becoming the UDF candidate from Wayanad and my family for supporting me and allowing me to be the candidate for the Wayanad, "
"It is my honour to represent you if you give me a chance," she added.
Reflecting on her political journey, she said, "It has been 35 years that I have been campaigning for different elections. This is the first time I am campaigning for your support for myself..."
She also referred to her recent visit to the Chooralmala area here along with her brother, Rahul Gandhi.
