New Delhi [India], December 7 (ANI): Coming down heavily on Union Minister Giriraj Singh over his 'thumka' remark against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra said on Thursday that "one whose Ministry has stolen Rs 7000 crore of MGNREGA wages from the poor should not speak on what is important or not."
"You don't tell us what is important or what is not. Your Ministry has stolen Rs 7000 crores of MGNREGA wages from the poorest of the poor," Moitra who is facing the heat of the 'cash for query' allegations said while speaking to ANI outside the Parliament.
To Singh denying allegations levelled by the TMC against him, Moitra said, "He is such a liar. He used the word "thumke lagana" and then he said that he has not used such words. But he said it on record."
Accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of lying, the TMC firebrand speaker said, "This is the problem with BJP. Every time they open their mouth and their lips move it is to lie. From top to bottom, this is a party full of liars. They lie from beginning to end."
Moitra further said that the people of West Bengal dislike the BJP because of their misogyny and dislike for women in a position of authority.
"The people of Bengal dislike you. They dislike your misogyny, the fact that you cannot take Nari shakti, you cannot take women in authority...your besharmi (shamelessness) knows no limits," she said.
The Krishnanagar MP said that though her party hopes for an apology from Giriraj Singh, it is too much to expect from him, given then he has denied his statements.
"We hope that there would be an apology from him but given that he is denying his statements, it is too much to expect," Moitra said.
Continuing his attack against the BJP, she said, "Their shamelessness, brazenness and the audacity to keep lying blows the mind."
Union Minister Giriraj Singh stoked a controversy with his remark against Mamata Banerjee over the latter shaking a leg with celebrities during the Kolkata International Film Festival, terming it "inappropriate".
At the event, Mamata Banerjee joined Salman Khan, Sonakshi Sinha, Mahesh Bhatt, Anil Kapoor, Shatrughan Sinha, and others to dance on the stage.
"Jashn mana rahi hai, thumke laga rahi hai, yeh uchit nahi hai (She is celebrating and dancing; this is inappropriate)," Giriraj Singh said earlier while reacting to the viral video. (ANI)
