Yoga should not be linked with religion: Sanjeev Baliyan
New Delhi [India], Apr. 08 (ANI): While hailing the Uttar Pradesh Government's decision to include yoga in the curriculum of government schools across the state, Union Minister Sanjeev Baliyan on Saturday said the ancient Indian exercise should not be linked with religion. Baliyan expressed his happiness over children performing yoga, which is good for health. "It is good. Yoga should not be linked with religion. The entire world has started adopting Yoga since Prime Minister Modi took initiative. Yoga is good for health also. So, nobody should have problem with it. What can be better than children doing Yoga," Baliyan told ANI. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led government yesterday issued an order to make yoga a part of education in government schools of the state. Earlier on Tuesday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed the state education officials to ensure that a Yoga Education Programme is compulsory in all the government schools. Class five to 12 will learn yoga as part of physical education in their schools. The state government has also decided to provide self-defence training for the girl students in the state-run schools.
